Murphy Insurance Agency is sponsoring a Toys for Tots Drive at its seven (7) locations in Bolton, Groton, Harvard, Hudson, Marlborough, Mendon and Medway and is reaching out to the community to support families in need.

“Because we talk with so many people on a daily basis, we’re very aware of the increased number of families facing financial challenges this year,” said Dennis F. Murphy, Jr., CEO of D. Francis Murphy Insurance Agency. “By organizing this toy drive and being a drop-off spot, we hope to ensure happier holidays for children in need and their families.” Murphy served in the Marines himself, which adds an extra personal element to the agency’s drive.

This is the 63rd year that the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program has been in action. In 2009, the Marines distributed over 16.4 million toys to over 7.4 million less fortunate children. According to Michael Murphy, “Our staff is excited about this effort and is already bringing in toys, but the generosity of our customers and the larger communities will be essential to making this drive a major success. There are so many families this year who need help, and we hope with our public effort that together we can make a big difference.”

To help increase public awareness, the Agency is promoting the drive in conjunction with its holiday music sponsorship on 105.7 WROR with hopes of generating awareness and a large community response.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys are needed for children ages newborn to 18 years. Drop-off boxes are located at the agency’s local offices at 50 Main Street in Hudson and 200 Main Street in Marlborough. For more information and other locations visit www.dfmurphy.com/toys or call 978-567-4650. Deadline for donations is December 15th.

about toys for tots

Started in 1947, the Toys for Tots program is the U.S. Marine Corps’ premier community action program, one of the nation’s flagship Christmas charitable causes and the only endeavor within the Department of Defense that reaches outside the military to give something back to the communities from which the nation draws the young men and women who serve in the armed forces of the United States. Its mission is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.

Medicare Part D Notices Are Due Before Oct. 15, 2025

Plan sponsors must provide the annual disclosure notice to Medicare-eligible individuals before Oct. 15, 2025—the start date of the annual enrollment period for Medicare Part D. This notice is important because Medicare beneficiaries who are not covered by creditable prescription drug coverage and do not enroll in Medicare Part D when first eligible will likely pay higher premiums if they enroll at a later date.
