Effective November 13, 2013, the MA RMV is changing the amount of notice that a customer must provide to cancel or reschedule a road test without needing to pay the road test fee. Notice required has increased from 24 to 72 hours.

This means that a customer will need to pay the road test fee if he/she cancels or reschedules with less than a full three days notices. For example, if a road test is booked for 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, the latest the customer can cancel without needing to pay the fee would be 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

NOTE: The 72-hour time period does include weekends/holidays. For example, a road test booked for Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. would need to be cancelled by Saturday at 9:00 a.m. On days the RMV is closed. a customer can cancel a road test online or through the automated road test booking phone line.
