Michael Murphy,
President

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays. Everyone has their traditions. Maybe it’s attending a high school or college football game. Perhaps it’s being with a big group or a smaller intimate gathering. It’s certainly a time when I reflect on everything I have to be thankful for, including our customers, who place their trust in Murphy Insurance Agency, and our excellent team of professionals, who work diligently to take care of all the details.

For many of us, Thanksgiving also brings the need to travel. The Thanksgiving holiday and weekend are among the most heavily traveled days of the year, and as an insurance person, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that they are some of the most dangerous. From 1999 to 2009, during this weekend, an average of 554 persons were killed each year in car crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. So, for your safety, here are just a few friendly reminders of things you can do to keep yourself protected.  We encourage everyone to:

  • Buckle up
  • Share the road…be patient
  • Avoid distracted driving
  • Share driving duties with a companion
  • Obey speed limits & road rules
  • Stay alert…stop every two hours
  • Don’t drink and drive
  • Don’t drive tired or sleepy
  • Give yourself plenty of time

Whether you spend Thanksgiving with family, friends, or both, all of us at Murphy Insurance Agency wish you and yours a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
