Insurance companies offer a variety of enhancements to their auto insurance programs. The special coverage offerings differ among companies, and while the type of enhancement may be similar in name, the specific details and eligibility requirements vary among companies. Some enhancements may be included automatically with some policies at no additional charge or can be purchased as an endorsement.*
Various special enhancements available are briefly outlined below. If you're interested in adding any of these to your policy, please contact us to request a quote for additional protection and specific details.
accident forgiveness
If you have an at-fault accident while driving your vehicle, an accident forgiveness enhancement forgives the additional premium assessed due to the driver merit rating points change, which can be significant. Accident forgiveness is subject to certain eligibility requirements and limitations, which vary from among insurance companies that offer this feature.
disappearing deductible
This enhancement reduces the amount of the deductible you’ve chosen to pay on a claim. The amount that your deductible will be reduced is based on how long you’ve been with the insurance company and how long you’ve had a clean driving record.
new vehicle replacement cost
If you drive a new vehicle and it is totaled in an accident, this enhancement covers the cost to replace your vehicle even if it is determined that the book value is less than the replacement cost. Because a new vehicle’s value tends to initially depreciate quickly, this can be a valuable feature.
auto loan/lease gap coverage
This option provides coverage to pay off any unpaid balance on your loan or lease if your vehicle is totaled and its value is less than the car loan. This is coverage is different from new vehicle replacement cost.
extended road travel coverage
If you are traveling far from home and have a covered accident or breakdown, this coverage can pay for extra travel expenses you incur as a result.
expanded original equipment manufacturer (oem) parts coverage
If you have a covered loss on your vehicle, this provides expanded coverage so that you can get original manufacturer parts to repair your vehicle.
pet injury related to an accident
Provides for medical treatment costs if your pet riding with you in your vehicle and is injured in an accident.
personal belongings coverage
Provides coverage for certain personal property in your vehicle if it is damaged in an accident or stolen and does not involve a deductible.
enhanced substitute transportation
This feature increases the substitute transportation coverage limits you have purchased on your policy.
use of other auto endorsement
An auto policy does not cover regular use of a non-owned vehicle. By adding this endorsement, you are covered by your policy when routinely driving a company car or other non-owned. This can be important if the vehicle you're driving has lower coverage limits than your policy.
named non-owner endorsement
If you don't own a personal vehicle, this covers you and other listed family members when operating a non-owned vehicle such as a company car as well as borrowed and rental vehicles.
