Upton a suburban community located in Worcester County in south central Massachusetts, 35 miles west of Boston and southeast of Worcester. The town has quick and easy access to the Mass Pike (I-90) and Interstate 495. Upton's public high schools are Nipmuc Regional High School and Blackstone Valley Tech. During the industrial revolution, the town was known as a producer of shoes, boots and hats. One of towns most notable residents was Eli Whitney, inventor of the cotton gin. Upton prides its community on preserving it's New England heritage and beautiful landscape yet, still being able to steadily advance business and the economy. Today, the town is primarily a residential suburb, and a significant portion of Upton's land area is protected as either State forest or by parcels purchased by the Town for permanent conservation.
