Townsend is a town in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. It is located 42 miles northwest of Boston, and the towns northern border abuts New Hampshire. Historically, the town had a number of various industries, but today, it is primarily a residential community with a variety of small businesses located within the town. Townsend still maintains much of its New England roots and character, but offers residents many programs and activities to stay active in the community. The public high schools are North Middlesex Regional High School and Nashoba Valley Technical High School.
