Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles

The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles (RMV) is pleased to announce it will continue to offer designated Wednesday appointment hours for customers 75 years of age or older through March 2021. Individuals in this age group are required by state law to renew their Massachusetts driver’s license in-person.

MA Driver's License

As of June 4th, the Massachusetts RMV is allowing standard Driver’s Licenses & ID Cards to be renewed using photos that were taken when customers were under 21 years old (as long as the photo was taken less than 14 years ago). This change makes more customers eligible to renew their standard license or ID online now. However, they cannot obtain a REAL ID online at this time.

Based on guidance from Governor Baker, and an abundance of caution and care for our customers and team, we have decided to close our offices to all visitors until further notice as a precautionary measure. HOWEVER, Murphy Insurance remains open to assist you by email, online and by phone.

What you need to know about the new Massachusetts law "An Act Requiring the Hands-Free Use of Mobile Telephones While Driving”, which bans the hand-held use of cellphones and other electronic devices while driving effective February 23, 2020.

Anyone hosting a Halloween party should take steps to limit their liquor liability and make sure they have the proper insurance. Social host liability laws vary widely from state to state. Some states do not impose any liability on social hosts. Others limit liability to injuries that occur on the host’s premises. Some extend the host’s liability if the person who was provided the alcohol is killed or injured, or kills or injures another person. Many states have laws that pertain specifically to furnishing alcohol to minors.
