Commercial Lines Customer Service Associate

Job Summary: Based out of the Hudson office, the Commercial Lines Customer Service Associate performs the essential functions of the position, which includes assisting customers with service needs and making changes to existing accounts. Specific service and marketing responsibilities are required in this position. Meets service and sales delivery standards and performs essential functions to the quality and service standards developed by the agency.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Pre-qualifies own new business according to agency standards. 
  • Informs and educates clients about policy coverage, changes, exclusion and insurance coverage needs; Provides technical support to Producer(s) to benefit clients and to reach agency's strategic business goals. 
  • Prepares proposals and completes application in coordination with Producer(s); submits applications to eligible and appropriate carriers; obtains client signatures on all applications; follows up to ensure timely receipt of quotations and policies.
  • Actively seeks referrals from current client base; follows up to generate new business by using prospect data base and automated marketing tools.
  • Remarkets renewals, contacts clients, creates renewal proposals and handles other renewal activities in coordination with the producer(s).
  • Sets priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, timely and accurate processing of transactions and other responsibilities.
  • Actively solicits increases in coverage and rounds out accounts through sales to clients; leaves good documentation of all contacts. 

Minimum Education and Experience Required: High School diploma. College degree highly desirable. Minimum of 5 years of experience as an insurance representative or client support representative preferred; or equivalent combination of experience and education. Producer P&C licensed preferred. Experience in a sales or service organization preferred. Bilingual ability (English/Portuguese or English/Spanish) is highly desirable and a huge plus.

Personal Lines Customer Service Associate - Bolton Office

Job Summary: Based out of the Bolton, MA office, the Personal Lines Client Service Associate (CSA) performs the essential functions of the position, which include supporting the service needs of clients. Specific service responsibilities are assigned. Marketing activity is required in this position. Meets sales, service, and quality standards adopted by the agency.

Essential Job Responsibilities and Duties (This partial summary should not be considered all-inclusive)

Sales

  • Prequalifies, analyzes prospects' personal lines coverage needs. Recommends coverages and prepares rating quotes and proposals to sell new accounts.
  • Actively solicits increases in coverage or rounding out accounts through sales to clients at every service contact. Recommends excess and surplus coverages, as needed to meet client insurance needs.
  • Educates clients as to coverage limitation and documents on the system.
  • Completes applications for insurance and has insured sign them. Submits to eligible and appropriate carriers.
  • Actively seeks referrals from current client base to solicit for new business prospects; follows up to generate new business using prospect data base and system.
  • Actively refers clients to Financial Services Department and Commercial Lines Department for solicitation of new business.

Retention

  • At each service contract, reviews current client coverages and recommends changes in coverage and in markets, as needed to ensure high quality coverage.
  • Remarkets renewals as needed.
  • Assists clients with making coverage changes and completes all service requests for clients.
  • Informs clients of policy changes, exclusions of coverage and insurance coverage needs. Explains coverages and exclusions to clients. Uses every service contact as opportunity to review and market appropriate coverage.
  • Handles direct-billed "walk-in" payments. Verifies coverage status processes, as appropriate.
  • Generates documents and produces correspondence to satisfy client service requests or to provide automated information, as needed by client.
  • Prepares summaries of insurance, schedules and proposals, using computerized system.
  • Maintains orderly electronic files and information, following agency standards.
  • Surveys insureds' loss exposures and recommends coverage at every service opportunity.
  • Works with supervisor to schedule and plan visits to clients.
  • Implements agency credit and collection policy in regard to agency-billed personal lines clients.

General

  • Keeps informed regarding industry information, new product information, coverages and technology to continuously improve knowledge and stay current.
  • Maintains up to date technical manuals and understands how to perform technical tasks to expedite client service.
  • Participates in staff meetings to understand and respond to needs of clients and staff within appropriate time frames and services.
  • In-depth knowledge of current computer system functions, input procedures, codes, reporting capabilities for all carriers.
  • Must maintain positive attitude and make every effort to perform in the position with a can-do, upbeat approach.
  • Full knowledge of insurance products and usages.
  • Adequate knowledge of rating procedures, coverages, and industry operations to effectively manage, maintain and underwrite assigned client and prospect lists.
  • Full knowledge of insurance markets and reference to markets.

Minimum Education & Experience Required: High School Education/GED or equivalent insurance experience. College education highly desirable. Minimum of 3-5 year of experience as an insurance claim representative or client support representative with a Producer’s License or the equivalent education and experience. Experience in a sales or service organization preferred. Bilingual ability (English/Portuguese) is considered a strong plus, but not required.

Minimum Skills Required: This individual must have a superior customer service attitude and approach to business. Proficient in Microsoft Suite of products. Ability to operate computer equipment, business equipment and other general office equipment, including telephones and fax machines. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing with others to explain somewhat complex issues, receives and interprets complex information, and responds appropriately. Full knowledge of insurance products and usage (Must obtain within time line set by Murphy Insurance Agency.) Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, and to accurately perform simple calculations involving decimals and fractions. Must have the ability to handle multiple and changing priorities effectively and in a highly professional and timely manner. 

Outside Commercial Producer/Sales Executive

Murphy Insurance Agency, with 7 locations in central MA, is seeking high caliber Outside Commercial Sales Executives to help our agency continue to grow as a leader in the region. Candidates will have an entrepreneurial mindset, drive and the motivation to be successful.

This is a pure HUNTER position and requires extensive business development capabilities. No Account Managers or "Inside" Sales Representatives. The right candidates will prepare for planned strategic cold calling and networking business development activities. Meet business owners to develop winning relationships and referrals. Work with our Sales Manager to prepare and present competitive insurance package proposals to new customers as well as renewals.
