about

Fitchburg is located in north-central Worcester County, 27 miles north of Worcester. Despite being one of the largest cities in the county, Fitchburg retains its small town atmosphere. They city's mill buildings along the Nashua River recall its history as an industrial center in the 19th century. Today, its hilly topography, parks and tightly knit villages/neighborhoods, which in many cases retain their ethnic identity, give the city its unique character. Local public schools are Fitchburg High School and Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School. The city is also home to Fitchburg State University.
