Concord is considered the birthplace of the nation and known for the "shot heard round the world", and known for famous authors Alcott, Emerson, Hawthorne and Thoreau. Located just 18 miles west of Boston along Rte 2, Concord is a picturesque New England town of historic residences and preserved open spaces as well as thriving commercial development. The town is served by MBTA commuter rail to Boston, Cambridge and Fitchburg, and Interstates 95 and 495 are easily accessible. Concord has an open town meeting form of government led by a 5-member Board of Selectmen and Town Manager.
